As St. Andrews heads into the final quarter of 2022, your Community Outreach Ministry has once again
been discussing what special Advent season engagement would be a good fit for our congregants. St.
Andrews has participated in the Jackson Street Food Bank for many years. Even though it had to be
paused during the worst of the pandemic, the food bank is now fully operational again, but there are
always specific needs that we as a congregation can step in and support. This year is no different.
So….after discussion with our Food Bank leaders the Community Outreach Ministry will host the
following collections of items for our Advent activity.
There will be three weeks of collections starting the beginning of December. The lists below are
suggestions and not necessarily everything that may be on your mind to donate. The first week, Dec. 4,
we are asking for donations of personal care items. These include shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste,
body soap, deodorant for both men and women, body lotions, feminine pads and tampons, men’s
incontinent items, disposable razors, shaving cream.
The second week, Dec. 11, we will be collecting baby care items, including diapers in all sizes,
baby wipes, baby food, baby cereal, formula, baby body wash, baby lotion, OTC diaper rash cream.
The third week, Dec. 18, will be cleaning supplies. These include dish soap, laundry soap, paper
towels, toilet paper, cleaning solutions, sponges, steel wool cleaning pads.
Collection boxes will be set up in the lobby where the food bank trunk lives, (or items may be dropped
off in the office). Specific dates and reminders will be posted closer to December. If you need additional ideas, talk with Virginia Gaub or Ed Wolfer (or any food bank volunteer).
Thank you from the Community Outreach Ministry. We know the St. Andrews generosity of
spirit will help support our food bank as it supports our neighbors in need.
