Daughters of the King International Prayer Partners: April Wallace

The purpose of Daughters of the King prayer partnerships is for National and Interna- tional chapters to pray for and communicate with one another. It is hoped that through en- hanced communication, both chapters will enjoy friendships with Daughters of the King in oth- er countries and will feel a part of a worldwide sisterhood. Currently, there are over 6,000 members in chapters outside of the U.S. They are in Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Re- public, Ecuador, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Israel, Italy, Malawi, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, and Uganda. We have members, but no active chapters in Kenya, Nigeria, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

International chapters may be formed in autonomous churches of the Anglican Commun- ion, the Roman Catholic Church, the Episcopal Church, and in some churches in the historic episcopate but not in communion with the Episcopal Church. Today our membership includes women in the Anglican, Episcopal, Lutheran (ELCA) and Roman Catholic churches. Interna- tional chapters may initially adapt the current English handbook for their use, but when enough chapters have been organized to form a diocesan or national assembly, they may develop their own handbook and bylaws patterned after those of The Order of the Daughters of the King®, and adapted to the discipline and forms of their own church.

St. Elizabeth chapter here at Saint Andrews is very pleased to announce becoming a prayer partner with the Martha Chapter in St. James Bubaare Parish, Bubaare Archdeaconry, Uganda. The President’s name is Mwikirize Suzan. This is a newly instituted chapter which was ready during the COVID lockdown in 2020.

If anyone plans to travel from the US to this area, please let us know. It often happens that the Office or International Chair is looking for someone to hand carry crosses, handbooks or other materials to a responsible person in that country.

FHS, April Wallace
