Vestry Report – by Judy Nelson, Senior Warden

Dear People of St. Andrew’s, June 23, 2022

Welcome to summer.  Here are the Vestry meeting minutes for you.  I was away last month so you (and I) missed out while your vestry continued their work on your behalf.  Six of the nine members met by zoom last night, but next month will meet in person.

Here are the highlights:

  • The vestry approved the party for our own The Rev’d. Pam Tinsley, to congratulate her on her priestly ordination and send her on her way to her new assignment.  The party will follow after the 10am service on July 10th. I hope everyone will come out to congratulate her.
  • Bill Baarsma tendered his resignation from the vestry.  He left with our deepest gratitude.
  • The vestry approved and will sign a letter of recommendation to Bp. Rickel that Jeffrey Boyce be ordained as a vocational deacon. Congratulations Jeffrey!
  • There will be an all-congregation picnic on July 17th at Sunset Terrace Park.  Rather than a 10am service, we will have an 11am service at the park followed by the picnic.  The 8am service will be held at church as usual. More details will be forthcoming.
  • Bill Brice proffered the financial statements for the last month. All is on track.  The actual statements are available in the office if you would like greater detail of income and expenditures. The roof repair has been completed.
  • Members of the vestry are addressing the issue of the youth and family ministry and will be m
eeting to develop the next steps. Fr. Tom will schedule an organizational meeting in July. Kendall Burch will lead the work.
  • As identified in April, the vestry reviewed covid precautions and the decision was made to change the policy to read that wearing a mask will no longer be required, but will continue to be strongly recommended for everyone.  Distancing pews will continue to be set aside for those who prefer them. As always, the vestry reserves the right to change the protocol if necessary.
  • The report from the profile committee outlined what they have been working on.  Monies for the Church Assessment Tool were approved.
  • With only 6 of the 9 vestry members in attendance, it was decided that any further decision on the kitchen would be shelved until the in-person meeting on July 26 at 6:30pm at Judy Nelson’s home.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to any member of your vestry.  We are here to serve you.

Peace,

Judy T Nelson
