The Jackson Street Food Bank re-opened in June 2021, and our numbers are starting to increase from around 20 families to 37 families in February. (Pre pandemic we had been serving about 65-70 families.) We have also been host to
the Tacoma/Pierce County Health Department providing Covid vaccinations during the time of our Food Bank distribution (5pm to 7pm). They have been providing all types and doses of the vaccine to anyone who is eligible and desires a shot. We are hoping the word will get out that we are open. We could still use more volunteer help both in the morning and in the afternoon. We require all volunteers to be fully vaccinated and wear mask during the time indoors. Since October we have been operating indoors. We are quite well stocked with food for present time but we have not been about to get eggs for distribution. We have found out we can get eggs IF we can provide our own egg cartons so… we would appreciate donations of empty 1 dozen size egg cartons.
Please help spread the word that the food bank is open and if you know of anyone who is available to help on the LAST Wednesday of each month, have them contact Virginia Gaub or Ed Wolfer.
