Join Steve Kieta on Sunday, December 12, in Puddicombe Hall after the 10:00 a.m. service explore the origins and history of our Advent rituals!

We have entered the liturgical season of Advent, that time when we prepare for and await the arrival God’s promise to redeem the world through the birth of Jesus. For most of us, this will involve many personal family rituals (our house now displays 29 creches), and we’ll have our own at St. Andrew’s with the changing of liturgical colors in our sanctuary drapery and vestments, the lighting of the Advent wreath candles each week, and the greening of the church on December 18th from 1-3pm.

To explore some of this history, Steve Kieta will provide an adult education presentation, “The Christian History of Advent & Christmas”, in the downstairs parish hall after the 10 A.M. service on December 12th. Mr. Kieta is a former Jesuit priest and a history teacher who is cur- rently a Postulant for Holy Orders in the Diocese of Olympia. In his presentation, he will seek to give us a better sense of the evolution of the traditions we readily embrace today. Please feel free to grab a cup of coffee and a treat at fellowship after the 10 A.M. service and then join us downstairs for what is bound to be an interesting and enlightening presentation.
