October 19-20, 2019. That was the date of the last Celtic Faire held at Saint Andrew’s. We, the membership of Saint Andrew’s, have an extraordinary opportunity ahead of us for the months leading up to and on October 21st. That is the planned date of the 2023 Celtic Faire, the first since the start of the pandemic.
The Celtic Faire was originally conceived around 15 years ago when a group of members came together to come up with fundraising ideas. The Celtic Faire was talked about as one of those ideas and very quickly became more than just a means to improve our financial bottom line.
Around a dozen committee members began work a few months before that first Celtic Faire to make decisions about what a Celtic Faire consisted of, where in the church building the various activities of the Faire would take place, who would head up those activities, and to do the general prepping that was required. Throughout the next few months additional volunteers became involved to bake, cook, plan, set up, and work through the day of the first Faire. Each year after that the Faire grew in the activities and events included and in the numbers of folks attending.
And now the opportunity is upon us to revive the Celtic Faire for 2023. But as has been the case for many Octobers before this, the Celtic Faire does not stand only as a way for us to improve our financial bottom line. We do it to improve our church family and the relationships in Christ that are formed by working together. We do it for the people of our local community who will return to the Celtic Faire that they have for many years counted on for good food, entertainment, and spiritual connections. We do it for vendors and entertainers who share their creative arts with the public.
Everyone at Saint Andrews will have an opportunity to participate. Planning for the Celtic Faire will soon begin.
